Nicks, cuts and scratch repairs

Wear and tear and small incidental damage can often be repaired on-site and leave very little evidence that a problem existed at all.

In some instances however, the completed leather repairs look and feel like one of the slight blemishes or inconsistencies that occur naturally on animal hides.

Larger rips or perforations can also be repaired, although if these occur within the body contact areas of the item it is recommended that the panel be replaced with new leather.

Completely change the colour of your leather

Full suites of domestic or commercial furniture, hides or automotive leather can be resealed and recoloured to almost any colour you desire including metallic and pearl finishes. We can colour match to suit your room, items of décor or simply refresh the original colour.

Upholsterers and vehicle trimmers use our service to match replacement panels of leather or to completely re-colour a hide to suit, when the batch colour is no longer available.

Cleaning and resealing leather

Many Uticolor technicians offer professional leather cleaning and reconditioning as part of their service.

When we clean a suite we can often more accurately observe the condition of the leather and, provided there is only a limited degree of degradation, the affected areas can be resealed, which will considerably extend the lifespan of the leather.

Uticolor formulates much of its leather products by using highly specialised materials, technology and consultation from the world’s largest international tannery suppliers.

Uticolor technicians have a very adaptable range of products available to them including ‘state of the art’ non-toxic cross-linking binders and the new light refractive top coating systems.

To minimise possible customer inconvenience Uticolor technicians also have the choice of using modified solvent systems for faster on-site repairs.

Leather Dressing

Uticolor is a service orientated organisation, however in response to our customers’ requests for products to maintain their furniture, we do sell our product Leather Dressing.

The application of Leather Dressing, when used in accordance with the directions on the label and in conjunction with a regular cleaning schedule, can significantly extend the lifespan of sealed-type leather items.

It is not suitable for unsealed or ‘nubuk’ style leathers.

Leather Dressing is guaranteed not to permeate or damage any sealed leather that is in good condition.

  1. Some repairs are possible on garments, handbags and footwear; however this is limited to selected franchisees.
  2. Uticolor can treat unsealed and ‘nubuk’ style leathers provided they are clean and uncontaminated, however by the time the consumer realises that there is a problem with these, it is usually too late to restore the leather without dramatically changing its character.
